We are now harvesting the reds -the first one to have reached maturity is obviously Pinot Noir

Pinot noir, the most argued red grape

It was born in Burgundy and it conquered the world. It was considered the grape that can measure the craft and passion of the vintner because elaborating a good Pinot Noir means continuous work, hundreds of hours of care, thorough knowledge, patience and particularly the capacity to overcome bad vintages and to start all over again just as dedicated.
It is the most commented and the most contested red grape and the explanation is simple: it is particularly difficult to obtain, it is seen as precious and the way it is turned into wine can either highlight the varietal and terroir characters or lead to the heavy, complicated, dark wines after long aging in intensely toasted oak. Some say that its natural expression of graceful wine is the only one plausible, others manage to turn it into a wine for future generations, into bottles to be opened 20 years after harvest. Another reason for dispute are its particular characters because  Pinot Noir is so rich in flavors and notes that it can produce wines that are impossible to be mistaken for others, no matter what the terroir. It can equally produce wines that are very similar to each other in adjacent terroirs.  To add to this, its genetic lability makes it hard to maintain the parameters of the vintages. Therefore this is a test grape, even for the most experienced oenologist. The quest for “true  Pinot Noir” has fanned and it is fanning passions all over the world, so that soon we will probably be able to say : to each his own…Pinot Noir.
In România, Pinot Noir has the most diverse expressions, from the semi-sweet pinot in Dobrogea to the superextracted pinot in Banat. Several winemaking directions were tested in Segarcea and so far we obtained three distinct expressions of this grape.
Pinot Noir Elite was elaborated as a single varietal wine, where the grape is allowed to express with no restrictions. The only technological intervention that we perform here is we plunge the skins into the juice using pistons, so that the wine, still in fermentation, acquires flavors and color.  This is how delicate wines are obtained, with soft integrated tannins and notes of red fruit and spices. In Prestige line, the grapes are submitted to the same procedure, but the wine is aged for 6 to 8 months in French oak barriques, new or second use. This way, in the final blend, we have full control over the tannic expression and the flavurs from the oak  – vanilla, cocoa, wood, smoke, etc..   Finally, Pinot Noir is a fundamental ingredient for the  superpremium  rosé-ul Minima Moralia  Hope. Here the subtlety and elegance of Pinot Noir meets the force of Cabernet Sauvignon rosé, barreled for 4 months in new oak, as well as the youth and glow of Pinot Gris. This results in a delicacy dedicated to connaisseurs.
