Tămâioasa Roză from Segarcea was awarded Diamond Nova in Monaco

The 8th edition of Women and Wines of the World competition brought a distinguished award to  Tămâioasa Roză 2012 from  Domeniul Coroanei Segarcea.

With a general score of 90.8 pts., Tămâioasa Roză 2012 was granted Diamond Nova and ranked three among the nine wines which were awarded this medal.
Besides Tămâioasa Roză, other wines were granted recognition: Principesa Margareta Marselan 2009 (Silver Nova), Blue Train Sauvignon Blanc 2013 (Bronze Nova), Blue Train Cabernet Sauvignon 2011 (Bronze Nova), Blue Train Roze 2012 (Bronze Nova) and Blue Train Tămâioasă Românească 2013 (Bronze Nova).

         About the competition
Women and Wines of the World, hosted annually by the Principality of Monaco, is a competition whose jury is exclusively made of women – experts in oenology, viticulture, media, gastronomy and wine trade. The competition is organized in accordance with the strict regulations of OIV (International Organization of Vine and Wine) and it was the first contest to introduce the so-called mini series, reference-wines that are repeated during the blind tasting in order to certify the objectivity and constancy of the scores granted by the jury.

         About Tămâioasă Roză 2012
This grape originates in the French grape Muscat au petit grains roses, which disappeared from the statistics towards the late ’50s. A true survivor, the grape was valorized again during the replantation campaign when Domeniul  Coroanei Segarcea vineyard was brought back to life. It all started with a small plot of about 2.000 plants of Tămâioasă Roză that had survived for over a century. This grape revived and covers currently 14 ha in the Segarcea vineyard. It is a grape of powerful and complex flavors doubled by high acidity; therefore we decided to maintain the tradition of making dessert wine as the semi-sweet character contributes to emphasize the flavors of roses, white fruit and sweet cherry.
Tămâioasa Roză is considered a wine that can be enjoyed at any time during the day, as it integrates all the components in a balanced whole. It can be enjoyed in a short interlude or at dinner, as an appetizer or with dessert.
It can be associated with a variety of products and textures, from canapés with soft cheeses or cream-soup to French pastry desserts:  creme fraîche, quiche lorraine, red fruit salad or sweets with honey and nuts. But beyond refinements and gourmet notes, Tămâioasa Roză is a wine that can be enjoyed by itself: a glass of chilled wine for a short break of enjoyment.
